The Talmud is a compilation of legal and moral-ethical positions of Judaism, covering the Mishnah - the basis of Jewish oral tradition, and the Gemara - discussions conducted by law teachers of the Land of Israel and Babylon over five centuries, and representing the main source of the Oral Torah. There are the Babylonian and Jerusalem Talmuds, with the Babylonian Talmud having greater authority and being the main subject of the traditional Jewish education system. This volume, the eleventh of a multi-volume edition, includes the original text and Russian translation of the last three chapters of the tractate Bava Metzia.
The basis of the publication is the principle of accessibility; it is intended to help the reader independently get acquainted with the full text of the Talmud in Russian.
The translation is accompanied by brief comments, based on the comments of the greatest medieval scholar-talmudist Rashi.
