The book is dedicated to drawings for fabric created by artists of the Russian and European avant -garde. In the mid-1920s, a number of outstanding masters of Russia and Europe simultaneously turned to the design of textiles, making it the main sphere for the development of his innovative ideas. In the projects they created, a new artistic language was indicated, which anticipated future achievements in world fine art, in particular, experiments of op-art and minimalism of the 1950-1960s. The focus of the study is focused on the work of Russian constructivists Lyubov Popova, Varvara Stepanova in Moscow and Sonya Delon in Paris. A comparison of visually close motives made in different countries allows us to understand how new geometric forms were adapted to radically different social conditions. By the end of the 1920s, a new style of geometric abstraction in textiles grew into an international direction. The introduction of fabrics made according to the drawings of artists significantly influenced the development of the taste of the public and prepared the ground for the further development of modernism
