This book is dedicated to the problems associated with the mechanisms of self-oscillations in the 'drill bit - drill string' system during deep well drilling. Corresponding mathematical models describing the behavior of the drill string as a mechanical system with distributed parameters and nonlinear relationships imposed on it have been developed and analyzed. This allowed to determine the conditions for the occurrence of torsional and longitudinal self-oscillations, as well as longitudinal resonance of the tool during the drilling process. Measures are proposed to prevent these phenomena without the use of additional devices, and an algorithm for working with the rock-breaking tool is presented, allowing for the most efficient use of the energy supplied to the bit for its deepening. Possible solutions to problems arising from the use of dependencies of bit depth on operating parameters are considered for the purpose of forecasting and optimizing the drilling process. This book is primarily intended for those who have decided to dedicate themselves to scientific research - students and postgraduates, as well as teachers, engineering and technical workers, and anyone interested in the mechanics of deep well drilling.
