The comedy “Woe from Wit” has long entered the school curriculum. It was perceived and positively appreciated by the contemporaries of Griboedov. Pushkin wrote: “I read Chatsky - a lot of mind and funny in verses, but the whole comedy is neither a plan, nor thoughts of the main, nor truth. Chatsky is not a smart person at all - but Griboedov is very smart. ” “I’m not talking about verses - half should enter the proverb.” And so it happened, as Pushkin predicted. The comedy dispersed to quotes. Chatsky or stupid - you can think endlessly.
Two other dramatic works are unknown to the modern reader - “Young Spouses” and “Student”.
The first play represents a very free remake of the popular comedy of the French playwright, Krese de Lesser (1771 - 1839) - “Le Secret du Menage” (“Family Secret”, 1809) Of the three acts of the French comedy, Griboedov made one, simplified and partly changed its plot, replaced one female role for the male role of Safir, introduced several inserts from himself into the text. The comedy was often put in the theater, she enjoyed a rather strong success.
The play Student was written by Griboedov along with P.A. Katenin. It is ridiculed by the sentimental-elegic direction in Russian poetry of the 1810s, with which Griboedov and Katenin fought. The comedy is filled with parody of poems by K.N. Batyushkova and V.A. Zhukovsky and direct quotes from these and other poets applied ironically.
The text of the audiobooks was read according to the three-volume edition, which came to the 200th anniversary of the author with the participation of the Institute of Russian Literature of the Russian Academy of Sciences-“Pushkin House”.
The modern reader of Griboedov, of course, is familiar as the author of one work. A real audiobook is designed to expand the idea of the writer"s work
