William Shakespeare (1564-1616) is a great English playwright, poet and actor, creator of plays, which to this day go in theaters around the world. The tragedy of the Othello, the Venetian Moor ”was first represented on October 6, 1604 in honor of Jacob I, the king of England and Scotland, who had solemnly entered London before.
Othello, the ruler of Cyprus, believed the slander of the envious and, in a fit of rage, strangled his innocent wife Desdemona. Who is he - gloomy jealous, small and evil man? Not at all. The author endowed his hero with a big heart and an extensive mind, a noble soul, deeply experiencing both suffering and happiness. “Othello by nature is not jealous - on the contrary: he is trusting,” A.S. Pushkin insightfully remarked. And Shakespeare"s play is, first of all, about the deceived trust. Othello believes the slander of the Iago, the purpose of which is to destroy the ruler and take his place ... In the final, Othello is seeing. He cries with tears of joy. The verdict pronounced by him is an act of higher justice.
