"Horse Humpbackers" is one of the most famous Russian literary fairy tales. It was written by Pyotr Pavlovich Ershov (1815-1869), poet, prose writer and playwright. The work was first published by a separate publication in 1834, but even today, 185 years later, it remains a favorite fairy tale for children and instructive parables for adults. The main characters of the "Humpbacker" skate pass through many trials, magical transformations and, as a reward for their efforts, gain happiness. The main idea of the work, as is characteristic of Russian fairy tales, is the triumph of truth and justice. The descriptions of the adventures of Ivan and his faithful assistant skate-humpback are fascinating and diverse. The fairy tale is written in such a living folk language, it has so many original peasant wisdom and good humor that it is often not even perceived as the author. Only a strict poetic size distinguishes it from folk tales, but in spirit it is close to the oral work of the Russian people.
