Alexander Pavlovich Chudakov (1938-2005) - Russian philologist, literary critic and writer, husband of academician Marietta Chudakova. His only large artistic work was the historical and philosophical novel “The haze on the old steps”, marked in 2011, “Russian Bouquer "as the best book of the decade.
Autobiographical work, the time of action is from the end of the Great Patriotic War to the mid -1980s. Under the fictional name, Chebachinsk, a completely real city of Schuchinsk, located in Northern Kazakhstan, was revealed. At that time, this town was a place for many for many. He was inhabited by old intellectuals, dispossessed peasants, deported Chechens, sent Germans and the remains of the Russian aristocracy.
There are two main characters in the novel. Anton Stremoukhov, a young scientist, a native of Chebachinsk, arrives in the city of his childhood in the late 1960s. He wanders along the familiar streets, recalls episodes from the past, school, friends, neighbors ... The second central character is Anton"s grandfather: from his appearance, the work begins with a story about how he died, ends.
The whole book is a sequence of stories that smoothly flow one into another. They are different - funny, dramatic, sometimes tragic, well -known and led only a few. Some novels (for example, memoirs of eyewitnesses of events) are based on real facts, others are fictitious by the author. But the main thing is their interpretations, sometimes very original ...
