The monograph by the famous fortification historian is Doctor of Historical Sciences K.S. Nosova - devoted to the study of medieval Russian fortification from the 9th to the end of the XVII century.
In the work, archaeological material is generalized, the information of written sources, iconography and the work of modern researchers are analyzed. The monograph introduces both the early concepts and the latest achievements in the history of Russian fortification.
