"Ordinary History" is the first novel of the Russian writer -realist Ivan Alexandrovich Goncharov. The worldview of the protagonist is gradually changing, and by the end of the novel a completely different person appears before us.
"Julia was already excited by expectation. She stood by the window, and her impatience increased every minute. She plucked the Chinese rose and threw the leaves to the floor with annoyance, and her heart freezed: it was a moment of flour. She mentally played the question and answer: will it come or will not come? All the power of her consideration was directed to solve this tricky problem. If considerations spoke in the affirmative, she smiled, if not, she was pale.
When Alexander drove up, she, pale, sank into the chairs from exhaustion ... "
