The Old Russian period is one of the most significant in Russian history, when the basic principles of national being, cultural and religious traditions were formed. The content of the disk combines the entire complex of basic literary and visual monuments belonging to the Old Russian era.
4 600 pages of the text: the publication includes classical literary works of the XI-XVII centuries: annals, legends, novels, the lives of saints and much more, from the "Tale of Bystor" Nestor, "Words on the Law and Grace" of Metropolitan Illarion, Kiev-Pechersky Pateric to the works of Protopop Avvakum, poetry of S. Medvedev and K. Istomin. Studies by M.N. are placed in the application to them Speransky (lectures on ancient Russian literature), A.N. Afanasyev (chapters from the book "Poetic views of the Slavs to nature"), G.P. Fedotova ("Saints of Ancient Russia").
More than 1,400 color images: In the section "Old Russian art", architecture, icon painting, frescoes, mosaics, decorative art are represented. The material on ancient Russian art is complemented by the essays of E. N. Trubetskoy and the work of the priest Pavel Florensky "iconostasis".
