Mikhail Yuryevich Lermontov (1814–1841) - a brilliant Russian poet, prose writer and playwright, classic of Russian and world literature. His poems and poems are magnificent, they are not inferior to them in artistic expressiveness and those few prosaic creations that he managed to create for such a short life. The works collected here belong to various genres, written in different periods of Lermontov’s creative activity. This is a textbook, which is part of the school program in literature, the novel “Hero of our time”, in the images of which the author presented the dramatic fate of his generation, and the romantic fairy tale "Ashik-Kerib", based on the Azerbaijani version of the epic widespread in the east, and a little-known outline "Caucasian", and an essay on a given topic "Panorama of Moscow", written by Lermontov at the School of Guards Sprunards. The collection is completed by the mystical story "Shtoss", which the author could not finish, being killed on a duel.
