Ivan Nikolaevich Kramskoy (1837-1887) - an outstanding Russian painter and a drawingman, occupying a place in the history of Russian artistic culture. He was also widely known as an authoritative public figure, inspirer and organizer of the partnership of artists, a brilliant critic. Kramskoy was engaged in genre, historical and portrait painting. He created a gallery of portraits of the largest Russian scientists, artists, writers and public figures, among them portraits of L. N. Tolstoy, I. I. Shishkin, P. M. Tretyakov, M.E. Saltykov-Shchedrin, S.P. Botkin. These works are characterized by expressive simplicity of the composition, clarity of the picture, the thoroughness of light -skinned modeling. The master accurately recreated the appearance, features of the spiritual and psychic warehouse, the wealth and intensity of the inner life of the models. The publication includes about 90 works by Ivan Nikolayevich Kramsky, an article on the biography and genres of painting, in which the master worked, as well as the main stages of his life and work. The disk is intended for art historians and a wide range of readers.
