Alexander Nikolaevich Ostrovsky is a great Russian playwright who made an invaluable contribution to the treasury of Russian and world classics. One of his most famous works is the comedy "Forest", written in 1870. The play takes place in the estate of the widow of the landowner Raisa Pavlovna Gurmyzhskaya, a rich lady of "about 50 years old." She represents the sale of part of her forest to the county society as a good deed, because the earned money will go, supposedly, to a dowry to a poor niece. But it very quickly turns out that the funds are needed by Gurmyzhskaya for her young chosen one - the unhealthy gymnasium student Alexei Bulanov
