One of the problems in the process of learning English is the translation of phraseological units: proverbs, sayings, winged phrases and other sustainable revolutions.
Do you know that the expression Between The Devil and the Blue Sea (literally “between the devil and the blue sea”) translates into Russian as between two lights? To Call A SPADE A SPADE is not “calling a shovel with a shovel”, but calling a spade a spade, but a Finger in EVERY Pie is not a “finger in the cake”, but a stigma in fluff?
If in Russia they do not go to Tula with their samovar, then in England they do not carry coal to Newcasl ... We have iron, while they are hot, and their hay is dried while the sun shines. We try to kill two birds with one stone with one shot, and the British - two birds with one stone.
But such figurative phrases that cannot be translated literally are constantly found not only in cinema and on television, in newspapers and fiction, but also in the daily speech of native speakers.
The proposed audio course contains phraseological units that are most consuming in modern English. For each English expression, a literal translation and the corresponding Russian equivalent are given.
In the second part, designed to consolidate the material and self -testing, at first the Russian proverb sounds, and then - after a pause - its English counterpart
