Nikolai Mikhailovich Karamzin (1766–1826) - an outstanding Russian prose writer, poet, journalist, historian. Listeners are offered by his immortal creation - the first full history of the Russian state, covering the period from Rurik to the interweaving of 1611–1612. Its 12 volumes are written in a lively, figurative language and contain not only factual and interpretation of events, but also the author’s assessment of their participants, often harsh and unpleasant. In Soviet times, the Karamzinsky "History" was considered "reactionary" and was not reprinted until 1988-1989.
