The publishing house of Directive Publishing continues the series" world art in the faces of the new program "Edgar Degas".
The disk is devoted to the history of the life and work of the outstanding French painter and sculptor Edgar Degas. To what direction of painting to attribute the work of Degas - for a long time critics did not find an unambiguous answer. Some of them generally completely denied his commitment to impressionism. His works are characterized by unexpectedly bold movements of lines, a strongly "trimmed" composition, reminiscent of an instant photo in which the figures are shifted to the corner, and the central part of the canvas is a free space.
The most of all Degas were interested in two topics: races and ballet theater. The fragile and weightless figures of the ballerinas appear before the viewer in the twilight of the dance classes, then in the light of sophists on stage, then in short minutes of rest.
The project contains a detailed article and a brief block about the main stages of life and artist’s work, as well as an illustrative application, including more than 700 illustrations that allow the development of his work. In the program you will find images of such paintings as: "dance class", "dancer on stage", "blue dancer", "on races", "asses before races" and many others, and comments on them.
The project is intended for a wide range of readers: it will be interesting to both painting lovers and art universities and art researchers of the 20th century
