Vincent Van Gogh (1853-1890) is an outstanding representative of post -impressionism, whose works amaze with color, dynamism, expression and pessimism. Contemporaries did not perceive the artist’s work, so in his life he sold only one picture. Van Gogh"s canvases were recognized as master of fine art and began to be very highly valued only after his death.
Van Gogh made a huge contribution to the development of world painting. He visually conveyed a sense of culture to the troubles and sufferings of a common man, showed a passionate thirst for good, beauty and justice. The works of the master had a huge impact on the formation of many artistic trends of the 20th century, such as, for example, Fovism and expressionism.
The publication includes more than 150 works by Van Gogh, an article on the biography and genres of painting, in which the master worked, as well as the main stages of his life and creativity.
