Jules Verne collected the richest factual material, supplemented it with biographies of famous travelers, and under the pen of a talented writer was born "History of Great Travels" (Historie des Grands Voyages)
In this capital work, we find a detailed description of the expeditions of such illustrious navigators as Columbus, Drake, Captain Cook, Laperuz, Tasman and many others. Thanks to their deeds, new worlds of both Americas, Australia and Oceania opened before Europe. On the pages of the "History of Traveling", we learn how Europeans studied unknown representatives of the flora and fauna, how they interacted with indigenous peoples and got acquainted with their customs.
