The history of European painting can be studied by its masterpieces - works that have been included in the Golden Fund of World Culture and have had a huge impact on spectators, critics and other artists for centuries. The first volume is dedicated to the work of masters of Italian and northern Renaissance. Each disk section opens with a viewing article and consists of a number of illustrated stories-descriptions. The section "Topics and genres" covers the emergence and development of such important genres as a portrait, landscape, an altar image, a history of various dilapidated and New Testament, historical, mythological and allegorical plots in European art is traced. In total, more than 1,400 illustrations, a detailed description of 120 paintings of 50 artists.
