Religion as an object of scientific study began to be perceived in the second half of the 19th century and owes its flowering to success in the field of linguistics, philology, ethnography, mythology, and folklore. A comparative study of languages found out the mutual kinship of peoples, putting the basics of the classification of groups and families of languages. Philology has deciphered ancient literary monuments in so far unknown languages, the works of the ancient peoples came out in remarkable translations, with comments and applications, and immediately became the subject of a separate study. But the life of ancient and new peoples was studied not only on the basis of literary creativity, but also in folk customs, mores and superstitions. All these studies gave building material for the emergence and development of the science of religions, the task of which is the study of religion, its essence and manifestations.
