The period in European history of the VI-VIII centuries has long been called "dark centuries". The early Middle Ages - the era of the birth and formation of the foundations of the culture of European civilization, the beginning of a new path that was to go through humanity. This is the cradle of chivalry and monasticism, the time in which the foundations of the foundations of the system of moral and cultural values that modern society to this day have been laid.
But is it legitimate to call those centuries "dark"? What were they - people who once lived on the territory of modern France, Italy, Scandinavia, Ireland? What is the difference between the king’s everyday life from the life of a simple peasant?
The reader will find answers to these and many other questions by getting acquainted with the disk "History of the costume". You will learn about what Emperor Charles the Great and his daughter dressed in what a simple peasant-franc we worn and in what armor the warrior was clothed before the battle. You will visit the feast that the Byzantine emperor gave in honor of his guests and find out what the Scandinavian Yarl and Bond, a free Norwegian peasant, treated their guests. You will learn how the Vikings built their ships, get acquainted with the medieval technique of manufacturing swords, visit the school of the Philids - mysterious Irish poets, mystics and magicians, and in the scriptor of the Irish monastery. You will know what kind of raincoats were in the fashion in Gaul and how wild Huns dressed, what the wives of the Vikings wore and what were the vestments of the Byzantine clergy.
The text is presented in a popular presentation, illustrated by numerous drawings of the author, as well as reproductions and photographs. The publication is intended for a wide range of readers.
