Mesopotamia is the cradle of mankind, it was here, between the Tiger and the Euphrates, according to ancient traditions, there was a paradise garden, here the myth of the flood arose here. For a long time, these civilizations remained semi -legendary for scientists, and only at the end of the 19th century did archaeologists reveal this layer of ancient history again. Now we know that it was in the ancient states of the interfluve that writing was invented, the first legislative system known to us was introduced, and a complex system of irrigation was developed. Now each student is familiar with cuneiform signs and statues of winged bulls.
Our publication is in detail the historical and cultural space in which the art of the ancient East was formed. It is proposed to pay attention not only to the widely known civilizations, but also to those cultures that are little represented in mass publications, such as Phoenicians, early earthly cultures of Asia Minor and Mesopotamia, Carthage. All of them will be considered in the context of the general development of the ancient Eastern worldview.
