Roman A.N. Radishchev "Journey from St. Petersburg to Moscow" is one of the most significant phenomena of Russian literature of the eighteenth century. It is written in the then popular genre of "travels" and is dedicated to the education of human dignity.
In this book, the author described the poorness of the peasant position and the ruin of agriculture. The first edition of the book, which appeared at the end of the 18th century, was destroyed by the government of Catherine II, and the book was banned for more than 100 years.
The advanced people of the 19th century carefully preserved several copies of the first edition of the book, secretly read them and rewritten them. Nowadays, the book has repeatedly been reprinted on these surviving copies
