Maxim Gorky (real name Alexei Maksimovich Peshkov, 1868-1936), - an outstanding Russian prose writer, playwright, publicist, prominent Soviet public figure. The proposed audio play is placed on his drama of the same name. Written in 1904, this play is rightfully considered the most "Chekhovskaya" at Gorky. Her heroes are representatives of the Russian intelligentsia on the eve of the 1905 revolution. They talk so at ease in the country on various philosophical topics! Behind the deceitful ease of midday walks and conversations, the tragedy of Russian society is hidden. All of them are "summer residents" in their way of life and thoughts are worthless people who strive for silence, peace and unable to influence the course of life.
