In the novel by the outstanding Russian writer Alexei Nikolaevich Tolstoy (1883-1945), created in the post-revolutionary years, in severe emigration conditions, the serene life of a noble family living on the estate is nobed nostalgically. The author managed to surprisingly accurately convey that unaccountable happiness, then the pleasure of life that happens only in childhood. These feelings are experienced by the main character of the story - Boy Nikita. They also called Tolstoy’s son from his second wife - Natalia Krandievskaya, talented poetess, who sacrificed a literary career for the sake of the success of her husband and the well -being of the family. Nikita grew up in front of his father, and although this was not in the Russian estate, but in the emigrant communities of Paris and Berlin, the story can be considered partly autobiographical.
