Petrik, the son of the landowner Popelsky, is blind from birth. Mother Anna Mikhailovna, endlessly loving and pitying the boy, tries to surround him with excessive care and raises him as a rare fragile flower. Her brother Maxim, a cripple, who lost her leg on the battlefields, sees the danger in the excessive care of the child, tries to accustom his nephew to independence and educate him so that he does not feel his inferiority.
Knowing the world around him through hearing and touch, Petya shows an exacerbated sensitivity to sounds. Gradually, he develops a unique musical hearing - a gift given to him from above in sight, helping to come to terms with blindness, to settle love and kindness in his heart instead of anger and suffering and gain spiritual insight.
The story Blind musician, rare in terms of optimism, is touching and lyrical. She talks about good and love, devotion and compassion and at the same time teaches courage and perseverance in spite of any life circumstances
