Alexander Ivanovich Kuprin loved animals very much and devoted many of his works to them. Seventeen dogs, several cats, a kid and monkey Marya Ivanovna lived in his house. All the animals from his stories-and the yard dog Barbos, and the indoor crook, and the cat Yu-yu, and the white poodle, and the elephant-existed in fact.
Touching and good stories about our smaller brothers with special interest and sympathy are perceived by children. Kuprin noticed that children generally stand to animals much closer than adults think. After all, children and animals are the most pure and honest creatures in this world!
