Nikolai Ivanovich Kostomarov (1817–1885)-an outstanding Russian historian, ethnographer, publicist and poet, corresponding member of the Imperial St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences, author of the multi-volume publication "Russian History in the Biographies of its figures". He organized and headed three victorious campaigns against the Polovtsy, for a long time delivering Russian lands from their raids.
