Nikolai Ivanovich Kostomarov (1817–1885)-an outstanding Russian historian, ethnographer, publicist and poet, corresponding member of the Imperial St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences, author of the multi-volume publication "Russian History in the Biographies of its figures". He made a great contribution to the development of Russian and Ukrainian historiography.
The proposed study is devoted to one of the largest statesmen of Ancient Russia. Vladimir Vsevolodich Monomakh (1053–1125) - Grand Duke of Kyiv (since 1113), a glorified commander, legislator and writer, whose teaching "was included in the Golden Fund of Russian literature and pedagogy. He organized and headed three victorious campaigns against the Polovtsy, for a long time delivering Russian lands from their raids. The rule of Vladimir Monomakh was a period of the last strengthening of Kievan Rus. Having stopped the princely feuds, he controlled three quarters of the Old Russian state
