Located between the large historical and cultural regions-eastern, central and South Asia, Tibet-this is a special world, due to geographical, historical, social, religious, cultural and political circumstances, distinguished against the background of all its neighbors. Like the Japanese - island - the Tibetan highland culture for many centuries borrowed various objects and ideas from the mainland. Tibetans created a bright, original cultural Amalgam, which became a source of inspiration for many peoples. This edition of Astramedia at 2 CD introduces you to Tibet as a country on the map of the world and in the space of the spirit.
A vast photo archive includes more than 3,000 images with comments representing nature, history, monasteries, sacred places, cities, as well as the daily life of Tibet. The publication includes ancient drawings, geographical maps and schemes. The dictionary of ethnographic concepts will help to navigate in the cultural space of Tibet, and the musical application will revive a visual acquaintance with its richest and mysterious world.
The library presented in the project is an attempt to collect the most interesting, diverse, ethnographic material, works on tibetes written in Russian or translated into it. Not all of the work included were created by professional scientists, their significant part is notes of travelers, filled with impressions with all the ensuing features: subjectivity, fragmentation, impressionability and inevitable errors. Nevertheless, each work contains a piece of truth. All together - they are like large and small mirrors, reflect this amazing country, its life, people, culture, everyday life, life, worldview, religion, everything else. In addition to modern essays, you will get acquainted with rare publications of the 19th and early 20th centuries, some of which have not been reprinted for a long time.
Of course, the proposed collection of texts is not all -encompassing and complete. Interested users can contact the work noted in the bibliography. However, it seems to us that this library will help to navigate in the still poorly described and inaccessible literature on the ethnography of Tibet.
Author-compiler: Leading researcher at the Institute of Etiology and Anthropology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Associate Professor of the Center for Study of Religion of the RSUSU, Doctor of Distribution Svetlana Ryzhakova.
The publication is intended for specialists-recruits, students and a wide range of users.
