In the twentieth century, NASA discovered in a belt of asteroids an extraterrestrial spacecraft, called "The goal". A few decades later, a team of scientists climbed to the side of the ship to study it. Among them was linguist Jane Holloway, who came into contact with someone else"s mind.
Contrary to all orders, Jane hits the ship and goes to the native world of Ei’braya, wanting to find out who is behind the genocide that destroyed his team. But upon arrival at the place, she finds with horror that the world of sectiley is devastated by the same plague.
