At the turn of the XIX-XX centuries, the Russian Empire pursued a very active policy in the Far East, trying to strengthen and strengthen its influence in the region and, above all, in China. In 1898, the Russians received the Liaodun Peninsula for long-term use and began the construction of the Port Arthur naval base. In 1899-1901, the Russian army made a significant contribution to the suppression of the uprising of the euelo, which covered the entire northeastern China, and three years later grabbed the Japanese imperial army. About these important events and many others are narrated in the new novel by Gennady Melnikov
