Yasumas Morimura is a man of huge inner freedom, not afraid to choose the path of appropriation - directions in art associated with the interpretation of already known images of world art and demonstrate them in a new reading, which is perceived differently in the world. His works trace many complex and sometimes ambiguous topics from rethinking historical cultural ties and researching relations between the East and West, to the analysis of modern social consciousness as a whole. The viewer will have to see Western European art in the interpretation of man with Japanese self -awareness.
Morimura’s worldwide glory was brought by his reincarnations in the famous historical personalities of the 20th century: Marilyn Monroe, Albert Einstein, Elizabeth Taylor, Marlene Dietrich, Yukio Mishima. Most of his works are images of popular picturesque masterpieces, including “Mona Lisa "Leonardo da Vinci and" Olympia "Edward Mane. The history of art has always inspired Morimur and became the basis for his fine and stage language. Following the artistic practices of postmodernism, his work remain copyright and very distinctive. They create a new communicative field that is relevant for the modern media space, which puts Morimur on a par with the most authoritative figures of contemporary art
