World trends and museum practice in Russia

The collection of articles records the results of an international scientific conference dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Department of Museology of the FIISU, which took place on October 30-31, 2018 in Moscow, at the Russian State Humanitarian University. The anniversary collection for the first time in all the years of the existence of the department summed up the results of its scientific activity. The significance of the department as one of the centers of museological thought is revealed, the significant contribution of the scientific team to the public recognition of museology, the close connection of the department with the professional community is stated.
The name of the conference "World trends and museum practice in Russia" reflects the common circle of issues discussed on it. The collection opens the section "World Trends", which included reports of representatives of Russia, France and Germany. The speeches were devoted to modern movements in museology and promising areas of museum practice. ICOFOM President Francois Moneses summed up the results of the international discussion on the concept of "museums".
