In European libraries and museums, about three thousand singing manuscripts of the IX-XVI centuries with a notation and many separate fragments are stored. However, in Russia, such manuscripts are rare. The catalog presents a rare exhibit - a sheet of parchment with Latin chants of medieval Catholic worship on square notes on both sides, donated by the collector A.L. Kusakin Museum named after Andrei Rublev. The book tells in detail about Western and Eastern European singing traditions.
The publication is intended for musicologists, art critics and book art lovers.
