The epic novel “War and Peace” by Lev Nikolayevich Tolstoy (1828–1910), perhaps one of the main books not only of Russian, but also world literature. This is a full -scale picture of Russia"s life in the era of Napoleonic wars of 1805-1812. And, of course, the author in such a voluminous work teaches many lessons.
The third volume is a historical lesson. The author reflects on the meaning and laws of history and poses many different questions. What is a war? What are the reasons for the war and in general - historical events? What determines the course of these events: by the will of a particular person, some external power or millions of accidents?
The Patriotic War of 1812 and the Borodino battle serve as a convincing argument in favor of the writer"s views, because the outcome of these events was obviously dependent not on false and external decisions-dispositions, but on the moral advantage, which was on the side of the Russian army and the whole people. We knew why we were fighting and ready to die for this: dear, warm, personal.
