The book considers the work of Vasily Kandinsky in the complex unity of its types, genres and styles - from realistic landscapes and portraits to abstract paintings of mature and late periods, from absurd verses to theatrical scenes and scenographic experiments to philosophical texts in the field of art theory. The diverse legacy of the master is represented in a historical context. We are talking about the so -called getting rid of reality (or a big rejection of the vision of the real in art) This most important fracture in the development of artistic culture is linked to the crisis of ideocratic consciousness at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, with the so -called ontological turn in different arts - from poetry to painting. Kandinsky turned out to be the creative person who was in contact with key trends and phenomena in the art of Russia and Western Europe. He was a witness and participant in the avant-garde revolutions in Germany and Russia, observed and experienced in his fate the grave consequences of the fatal socio-political experiment of Soviet power, was forced to escape from Nazi Germany and experienced the dramatic events of the German occupation of France.
