Book of art historian Markin Yu.P. It is dedicated to one of the leaders of the Soviet art avant-garde of the 1960-1980s, the sculptor and graphics of Vadim Sidur, whose work due to the hard censorship supervision of the authorities was formed in the conditions of self-isolation in one of the Moscow basements and became known in their homeland only after the death of the artist. The topics and stylistic searches of V. Sidur were determined by the circumstances of his biography: a severe wound at the front in 1943, a short practice of a surgeon-projection in a military hospital and, finally, a conscious choice of an artist’s profession with an obvious pacifist orientation of creativity. Since the beginning of the 1960s, the works of V. Sidur met the concept of "harsh style" and amazed the innovation of forms. Since the beginning of the 1970s, the master received recognition abroad, especially in Germany (about 20 exhibitions and the installation of anti-war monuments in Kassel, Dusseldorf, West Berlin and other cities of Germany according to his projects) V. Sidur"s work was also multifaceted. He left an extensive graphic inheritance and succeeded a lot as a poet and a prose writer (Roman "Myth" 1974), as well as an actor and a filmmaker (a poetic-documentary film about himself and his basement, 1974) The book is completed by "Applications", the texts of the wife of the artist Yu.Nelskaya-Sidur, the writer M. Kharitonov and the philosopher E. Barabanov, dedicated to the work of V. Sidur. The publication will be interesting to specialists, as well as a wide circle of readers
