In this publication, for the first time, all the editions of the treatise Vasily Kandinsky "on spiritual in art" (in Russian and German languages), as well as the texts of the artist about art science created in 1914-1921, are published together together. which are an important, but still absent link between the Munich period of his work and the Bauhaus period. The publication is based on an extensive archival material, equipped with a large textological apparatus and detailed comments, where Kandinsky’s dialogue with an artistic tradition is systematically reconstructed - Delacroix, Signac, Beklin, Leonardo da Vinci. Some chapters are devoted to the history of writing, publications and translations of the treatise. The process of creating xylographs, schematic tables and an illustrative application is considered in detail.
The book reproduces Kandinsky"s sketches, documentary photos, manuscripts and print media of the artist"s works
