The monograph presents the results of a study of the problem of the formation of a methodology for physics through a prism in the development of a physics textbook in Russia. It is built in such a way that it is possible to see the development of scientific ideas and their development in time, to follow the whole picture of the gradual emergence of the physics methodology regarding the content of the subject, methods and means of training. For this purpose, the monograph consistently for each era is given a review of the state of science, attention is focused on the social request of society in the field of technology and industry, a number of textbooks oriented mainly to secondary schools are considered and analyzed in detail. The monograph covers the period of time from the end of the 17th century - to the first third of the twentieth century. In the introduction, a methodological approach is justified, which is the basis for the analysis of the process of developing the methodology of physics teaching in Russia. The first chapter is devoted to the analysis of the process of formation of a physics textbook in Russia in the 18th century. The second chapter covers the 19th century, during which the formation of a domestic physics textbook for the school occurs. The third chapter is devoted to the analysis of the processes in the development of the methodology of physics in an era preceding the revolution, and in the post -revolutionary period, when after one and a half decades of methodological searches, a stable textbook was revived in the formation of a concentric system for teaching physics.
