Time of Luzin: Birth of the Moscow School of Mathematics: Soviet Mathematics against the backdrop of social upheaval

The center of events of that time is the life and scientific activity of outstanding mathematician, academician of the USSR Academy of Sciences N.N. Luzina. His dissertation turned out to be the beginning of the mathematical “chain reaction” in Moscow. Among his students were the largest scientists - P.S. Aleksandrov, N.K. Bari, A.N. Kolmogorov, M.A. Lavrentiev, L.A. Lesterin, D.E. Menshov, P.S. Novikov, M.Ya. Suslin, P.S. Uryson, A.Ya. Khinchin, L.G. Shnirelman. The book discusses the time of the enormous intellectual influence of N.N. Luzina (1915–1924), the collapse of his school (1922–1930), the moment of the administrative power of Luzin (1934–1936) and his fall in July 1936 by the mid-1920s. The beginning of the heyday of Moscow mathematics was associated with the activities of the great students of Luzin - Khinchin, Alexandrov, Kolmogorov - and with the new directions of mathematics that they developed. The book discusses the beginning of the scientific expansion of the Moscow school in the 1920s, as well as the shock of the unscientific nature, which came in 1929-1932.
