The book is the second part of the work of the same name in 2003, which is a unique collection of documentary materials about the theatrical and entertainment life of Russia in the first decade of the reign of Elizabeth Petrovna. It, among other things, presents the translations of foreign theoretical works on theatrical art, practical guides and dramatic works that existed in Russia in the 1740s, evidence of the then Russian press about the theater and spectacles. A significant part of the book is assigned to paratheater phenomena: masquerades, fireworks, illuminations, amusements and fun with varying degrees of theatricalization.
