The book "World on the map" is one of the most extensive popular and popular works on the history of the world maps that has ever been published. It should be noted that the published labor is not only an academically authoritative publication, but a popular and fascinating work that revives history. First expressed in the XVI century by the Flemish cartographer, publisher and collector Abraham orthelim, the idea that subroat geographical maps are a window in history remains relevant to this day. The presented monograph also aesthetically attractive artistic products. The first maps of the world in themselves are visually perceived as magnificent works of art, so we wanted to pay special attention to the quality of reproductions, to emphasize the beauty of maps and other illustrative material, in which we tried to use historical images that strictly corresponded to every period of time. In the folio “Peace on the map” the early stages of the history of the European map of the world are considered, from the 600s to the 1600s, the period when the Europeans opened the world and first began to portray it on maps. The world maps presented in the book show how, within the framework of this time, the geographical ideas of Europeans were formed, how these views were gradually transformed into those visual images that we now consider to be granted. The book gives answers to the questions: what are the cards tell about ourselves? What do they talk about our history, culture, position and values? How have European maps changed and improved over the millennium? For what purposes were they made? Who made them? Who were they intended for? This is a rare work for those who are fond of cartography, historical research, as well as for the general public.
