The book considers the work of the Anglo-Irish poet-symbolist U.B. Yates, the 1923 Nobel laureate, in the context of Russian poetry of his era. Such a typological comparison is useful for our interpretation of the work of Yates, this explanation of the stranger through a familiar one. But vice versa: a comparison of the whole galaxy of Russian poets with one of their English -speaking contemporary allows you to better understand the unity and continuity of the evolution of Russian poetry of the first half of the 20th century. A special place in the book is a description of the meeting of N. Gumilyov with the Irish poet in the summer of 1917. Other chapters are devoted to the comparison of Yates with the best Russian poets. In the addition - 50 chosen poems by Yates translated by G. Kruzhkov
