The readers are proposed to the book of the domestic historian and philologist S.P.Shestakov (1864-1940), dedicated to the study of the problem of the origin of the poem Odyssey, attributed to the legendary ancient Gomer to Homer. In the work, each chapter of the poem is analyzed in detail, and an overview of the criticism of Odyssey is also given. As a result of the study, the author concludes that in the "Odyssey" a combination of elements of two independent poems is found.
