This study is devoted to the consideration of a complex set of problems of the self -identification of Russia between the East and the West. A turn to the east at the turn of the nineteenth and xx centuries, its religious and philosophical systems, which interpreted ontological problems from the standpoint of natural equality, spontaneous humanism and the need to improve personality and the world, became a kind of protest against the pragmatism of Western culture. For Russian thought, the problem of the West-East was of particular interest: the East for Russia was not exclusively an external opposition, but organically entered its geopolitical space, was significant for the country"s cultural and historical development and for the biography of many noble clans.
Search for a synthetic form of new art and, moreover, new ways of living on the Silver Age"s creative elite before solving the historiosophical problem of the East and West. The spontaneous eclecticism of the Silver Age has become the point of intersection of science and mysticism, pagan motives and cosmism, east and west.
The results of the study, its conclusions and recommendations can be used in the development of issues of philosophical anthropology, cultural policy, intercultural relations, social philosophy, as well as in teaching educational courses on the history of philosophy, religion, culture, literary criticism and art history.
