The monograph is devoted to the problems of interpretation of the most famous myth in world culture - the myth of Edip. The work proposed to the reader is united not only by the topic and material, but also by the general approach, aimed at considering the studied object in the relationship of structure and meaning. The object being studied in this case is the myth of Oedipus, which is understood as the totality of all its versions and options. Particular attention is paid to the connection between the legend of Oedipus and the famous mystery of the spins (“Who walks on four legs in the morning, two in the afternoon, and in the evening on three?”) The main material for the study is the works of ancient literature in the ancient Greek language. Based on a wide range of meanings of the words of the Greek original, the author offers a multivariate reading of the riddle and myth.
The book is not overloaded with special terminology and is addressed not only to philologists and culturalists, but also by a wide range of inquisitive readers, and can also serve as a manual for humanitarian students
