This collection is dedicated to the diverse cultural heritage of Vyacheslav Ivanov (1866-1949), one of the most outstanding creators of the era of modernism. The basis of the book is the materials and research related to the XI Ivanovo Conference Viacheslav Ivanov: The Enigma of Modernism, Jewish University in Jerusalem, May 5-7, 2019. The question of the influence of Ivanov on the leading directions of the humanities in the era of modernism determined the directions of the conference and theme of the conference and theme collection. It presents studies of Russian and foreign scientists, which see the role of Ivanov - a symbolist poet, philosopher and historian of ideas - in the evolution of literature, music, theater, religious, cultural and artistic thought in Russia, Europe and Eretz Israel. One of the most important aspects of this book is Ivanov’s attitude to the revival of Jewish life, Hebrew and the creation of a new Israeli culture.
The collection includes publications based on archival materials. Of particular interest is the visual series of the book, representing the little -known work of K. Somov, N. Altman, Henrick Ripszam, photographs of Nini and Carey Hess (Nini and Carry Hess) The publication is of interest to philologists and philosophers, theaters, art historians and musicologists and all connoisseurs of poetry and culture.
