The author of the book is Ivan Ivanovich Mosin. Having graduated from the Museum of Museum of Museum of St. Petersburg University of Culture and Arts in 2006, he continues the work of his father-the famous artist and art critic I. G. Mosin (1960-2007), who wrote more than a dozen books on world fine art. Including these were books about impressionism, surrealism, and the work of pre -Raphaelites. The book about ancient Russian painting by I. I. Mosin complements this series of cognitive encyclopedic publications.
The encyclopedias present the best works in the history of painting, from the early revival (XIII century) to the second half of the XX century. Millions of people admire these masterpieces, they are inexhaustible sources of inspiration, the basis of the cultural and creative education of any person. Some of them have become milestones in the development of world art, which have forever changed the generally accepted ideas about the beautiful, while others have been considered a measure of social taste for many centuries to this day. Many of the paintings presented in the book have a fascinating story, filled with deep symbolic meaning, replete with allegories and subtexts that will open on the pages of this book. The publication is addressed to everyone who is interested in art, the abundance of illustrations and the availability of presentation makes it relevant for the widest audience.
Painting traditionally occupies the main place among the visual arts. Her world is rich and multifaceted, she is one of the most striking forms of expression of man. Painting has an amazing ability to create an incredibly reliable illusion of the depth of space on the plane of the wall or canvas, convey the nuances of sunlight. But painting does not just copy life, it emotionally reflects reality, appealing to our feelings, forcing us to empathize, changing ourselves, and thereby changing our lives. The plane of the canvas is a kind of window into the world. But not the one that surrounds us: this is the world of the artist himself, the world of his soul, his fantasy and experiences. The world with which he generously shares, inviting us to look into it
