This book briefly, simply and interestingly will tell the history of contemporary art from the end of the 19th century to the present day. You will learn about the main directions and trends, artists, topics and techniques, as well as get acquainted with 50 outstanding works - picturesque canvases, sculptures, installations, which have managed to transform contemporary art.
Suzi Khoja investigated works of different periods - from the first works of modernism to samples of ultramodern art. Each work is described in the context of the characteristics of the artist, his environment, historical and social events, the materials and methods used.
And although some temporary periods and directions intersect with the book "Main in the History of Arts", here you will find additional information, descriptions and illustrations of completely different outstanding works. Moreover, in each direction the names of women artists appeared who had a strong influence on the development of contemporary art.
How to read this book
The structure of the book allows any reader to easily move in key areas, artists and techniques and gives a deep understanding of contemporary art from the end of the 19th century to the present day.
The book has four sections: "styles and directions", "works", "themes" and "technology". Each section can be studied separately or together with others. The key part of the book - "works" - includes 50 of the most important works.
Useful links at the bottom of each page lead the reader from one section to another, and in the inserts tells about the key achievements of a particular direction and life of artists.

Art from the 1860s to the middle of the 20th century, and sometimes until the 1970s, is mainly associated with modernism. Later samples are now called modern and sometimes relevant art. This book presents modernism and new currents up to the present, as well as creative finds and techniques, themes, interpretations, methods of expression, art associations, installations and exhibitions.
Warlets and woodcuts, stencil printing and cloth paintings created using a spray gun, collage and computer graphics ... The artists allowed themselves to be free from the accepted canons, established their own rules, and since then the possibilities of embodiment of the idea - as in The art of modernism, and in modern - became infinitely diverse.
