The monograph is devoted to the study of the interpenetration of Russian and Finnish literature in the first half of the 20th century. Both typological parallels and the direct contacts of the writers of Russia and Finland in the most difficult period of world history have been investigated. The influence of Russian literature on the formation of the worldview of Finnish society is analyzed. The theoretical conclusion is confirmed that the interpenetration of literature of different peoples is possible not only through rapprochement, but also through repulsion. The role of "intermediaries" (translations and translators, writers, scientists, emigration) in the interpenetration of cultures was studied. The genuine "mediator" in Russian-Finnish literary contacts was the "Kalevala", the plots of which were creatively perceived by Russian poets. A number of unique materials from the archives of Russia and Finland have been introduced into scientific use.
